The number of heart failure patients is increasing and a lot of heart failure patients are living longer in the community. As part of the medical treatment patients are advised to be or to become physically active. However, less than half of the patients exercise regularly and if they start, it is often difficult to stay active in the long term, due to lack of motivation or practical issues.
The overall purpose of the HF-Wii study is to determine the effectiveness of structured introduction and access to a Wii game computer1 in patients with heart failure to improve their exercise capacity, their daily physical activity, decrease health care use and improve quality of life.
